 About the AFIM

The Association for Family Interactive Media was founded in 2005 by a group of Christian interactive entertainment industry professionals committed to helping parents and churches deal effectively with the many challenges that exist in the world of interactive entertainment.

The AFIM is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization supported solely through the tax-deductible donations of people, corporations and organizations concerned by the current state of interactive entertainment and its impact on our children.

The mission of the AFIM is to provide parents, churches and faith-based organizations with the information and tools necessary to make informed choices in interactive entertainment and further, to advocate the creation of a viable family-friendly segment within the interactive entertainment industry as a whole and video games in specific.

The AFIM is today a small but, by the grace of God, a growing organization. The AFIM has offices in Oregon, California and Indiana. Our commitment is to parents, churches and organizations nationwide.

Our Team

 

G. Scott Scholler – President
Mr. Scholler is the founder of the Association for Family Interactive Media. Stemming from his concerns as a Christian and as a parent, he has been involved in Christian video game development for the past six years, first as a principal in N’Lightning Software Development, Inc., followed by work with other, emerging Christian video game companies, and more recently with the CGDF. Apart from the foundation, Mr. Scholler is the CEO of CCComplete, Inc. an internet-telphony applications services provider located in Portland, Oregon. Over the past 25 years, he has served as an executive with a number of successful, start-up and publicly-held technology companies including Applied Materials Inc., Cymer Inc. and Intralase Corp. Mr. Scholler serves as the chairman of the personnel committee at his church where he also teaches a young adult Sunday school class. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and received his master’s degree from the University of Southern California.



Ralph Bagley – Chief Spokesperson
Mr. Bagley is a nationally recognized authority in interactive media, the impact of video games on children and teens, and the need for high quality alternatives to the graphically violent and sexually explicit video games that are so prevalent in the market today. He has been featured on many nationally and internationally recognized news programs and publications including: CNN, BBC World News, ABC, MSNBC, The USA Today, The Wall St. Journal, The LA Times, The NY Times, TBN, CBN, The 700 Club, CSN, Christianity Today, Christian Computing, Tech TV, The Inspirational Network and hundreds of independent television stations, radio networks and newspapers. Mr. Bagley is the founder and CEO of N’Lightning Software Development Inc., developer of the two critically acclaimed family-friendly video games “Catechumen” and “Ominous Horizons”. Prior to founding N’Lightning Software, in 1990 Mr. Bagley founded an inspirational news publication based in Northern California. This publication's combined circulation is now over 100,000 per year.



David Koch – Vice President, Seminars
Mr. Koch has been involved with the interactive media business since1982 and is a well known and respected member of the industry. He started as a software producer for Electronic Arts and to date has production credits on over 130 separate computer and video game products. His industry awards include "Best Software Production Executive in the Industry" from the Computer Game Developers Conference in 1984, 1991, and 1992 and the "Excellence in Software" Award from the Software Publishers Association (S.P.A.) in 1994 and 1996. Mr. Koch has worked as a front line executive consultant for Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Brothers, Paramount Studios, Universal Pictures, Apple Computer, Disciple Data, DreamWorks Interactive, and other Hollywood and Silicon Valley corporations concentrating in the area of Internet, console, and computer software production and development.
